The loss of my uncle

This Christmas brought some sad tidings to my family, my Uncle J died on Christmas night. He was my uncle, my godfather and an all around good man.

Loosing my uncle is going to be very hard on all of us, but especially my aunt. They married late and it was a love match. I have always liked them together. As a couple they were so cute. Since I am single and 42 they also have given me hope when it comes to possibly finding someone special. My favorite thing to watch with them is when my uncle would say something that my aunt finds silly or is opposed to and she says “Oh Jxxxxy”. Being from New York her accent just makes it perfect. My uncles reaction of “What?” was always perfect.

My uncle was a gentle man who suffered many health issues. While we will miss him he does deserve his rest. I know that if he could have held on longer he would have. Especially for my aunt. Christmas will forever be tied to my uncle. For a while the tie will be one of sadness. My hope is that in time we will be able to face it with joy of remembrance.
