Does not being able to give a straight answer equal lying?

I find it fascinating that society can become totally immune to certain behavior. One such, is the inability to give a straight answer. Have you noticed how some people just can’t do it? You know like politicians.

I used to be crazy involved in politics and an information addict. That ended about seven years ago. Actually what ended was my belief in that there are people in power who believe in doing what is good for all. No specific incident on the behalf of any political party prompted this change. It was two different incidents.

One was when I attended mass up in Michigan during a visit. The priest in the gorgeous church had a homily that just bashed businesses. When reading the general intercessions he never suggested prayers for all of those that serve like police officers, fireman, or the armed forces. As I sat there I looked at all the construction being done on the church. This church was built-in 1925 and is attended by many leaders in business. I walked out that day and haven’t been back since.

The second was learning of a man who started a business selling t-shirts with name of the fallen members of the armed services. What is my issue with that? He in no way supports the armed service members that are living. His business is making money on the sacrifice of the dead. I have an issue with that.

Lately I am getting back in to the world of politics and information. I wish I could say that I see a difference, but I would be lying. What I witness more and more is the inability for people to give straight answers. The ability to claim responsibility for ones actions in an honest straight forward way is missing in our world now. The loss of straight answers clearly shows that lying is acceptable. That having integrity is completely over rated. For me this means that it is time to step away from politics and the news again. It is time for me to gather my information on my own and to remember that those in any kind of power always just look out for their own interests.
