Acceptance

At times it seems that accepting others is one of the most difficult things we do as humans. Differences make us nervous, but in reality we are all different from each other. Yet we are all similar. It is truly as simple and as difficult as that.

In my (almost) 43 years on this earth I have noticed over time that we like to congregate with people who share similar interests as we do. People who believe something different, i.e. religion or political beliefs, are to be avoided and distrusted. I look at that and wonder how it ever came to this. Maybe it is just the way that my head works, but in my mind how can we all share the same beliefs down to the last nuance? We are all different. We all have had different experiences. Even in the same family the members will develop different views on the same experiences. Each cultural, religious, and political belief is built over time. Many people experience shifts in these area’s of their lives over time. It makes sense as we continue to experience life. Our world is becoming smaller and smaller in so many ways that to survive it is time to look past the differences that we cling to and open to the similarities that we share.

I will be the first to go: I breathe oxygen. How about you?

Yep, it really can be that simple.

Peace and blessings.

  1. I too breathe oxygen – we are one – one breath, one heart beating, one soul alive in all its diversity, uniqueness and yet bound together by the thread of one soul.

  2. My blog is such fire and brimstone..LOL..but I find peace in your writing…I too believe we are one and breathe the same air…I will continue to believe that humanity can find the path..and diversity is beautiful…If only we all could see we are all made of the same strange stuff…Blessings…BAXT
