Update and a rant

For those of you who have been sending healing thoughts, prayers and energy to Jay, Jenn and Ry I have some disheartening news. Yesterday Jay’s doctors relayed the information that they feel there is nothing else they can do, he needs hospice and they give him 2 to 6 months.

I want to thank you for all of your support and I am going to ask that you continue to do so.

Now for my rant: First my disclaimer: those in the conventional medical community always do the best to their ability. I know that. They are not heartless souls. They do very difficult work often without the results they wish for. That being said here we go.

I would like people to wake up. There is not only one option when it comes to our health. We are not machines which you upgrade and that is it. We consist of our bodies, minds and spirits. There is so much more to our health then our blood pressure and sugar levels. It is time that as a society we stop looking at medicine as either or.

What do I mean by that? We can’t continue to look at our medical approaches as either conventional or homeopathic. These two paths have to be run together. There is no other way. We have this divide in our society in the west. It has divided us on so many issues and this is one. It is this idea of “either/or”. Your either conventional or homeopathic. For so many you can’t use both.

Really? Why the hell not? I’m sorry, but personally I am a body, mind and a spirit. My body is not only cells, but energy. My spiritual welfare has a lot to do with my health. A lot. I believe in treating the whole person and integrating their own abilities with the healing process.

I am sorry for the rant from hell today, but I am saddened, mad, and at a loss as how to proceed from here.

Much love my friends.

  1. such sad news Mary. I will keep you all in my prayers. I’m with you about the great need to fuse approaches to healing. The conventional approach often looks only at relieving symptoms or ‘fixing a part. We need a whole person approach because as you say, we are not only cells, we are energy, we are spirit, we are heart.
blessings and strength to you during these days.

  2. Here, here! Well said Mary, I agree 100%! I am also very saddened by the news and will keep them in my thoughts.
