Blessings: What do you think of?

Time for an experiment. Close your eyes and think blessings. Just the word. What come to mind?

There a three reactions that I have experienced. The first is nothing. A snort of disbelief and possibly saluting me with your middle finger. Fair enough. Been there and I have done that.

The second reaction could be “Yes, I have them, BUT”. Or another take is “I know I am blessedĀ and should beĀ grateful, BUT”. The land of knowing that we are blessed, but we do the hand flutter of doubt. Why are we blessed? Surely we don’t deserve them? Right?

Then there is the “I am blessed” world. Let me show you what they can look like:

  • I am blessing for witnessing the rain yesterday.
  • My friends and family are a blessing.
  • The wild turkeys at work. The deer in my neighborhood.
  • The boys.
  • This moment
  • This breath
  • My job.

Simple and some no so much. Let me ask you if you noticed how many of my blessings are monetary? One, my job. The remaining are moments of existence and awareness. I can survive on less. I don’t need things to be blessed. My true blessings stop me in my tracks and make me catch my breath with wonder.

Today stop and think about your blessings.

Peace and blessings my sweets.

  1. I think I need to start meditating – my first thoughts were Work, Late, No time…

I will definitely need to work on that :-)

  2. Life and hope were the words that popped instantly..
Blessings dear, you just made me realise about my life…
